Our Review
This hotel has the best rooms on this side of the
island. That's right, you read correctly... the Travelodge.
Here's why, along with a history lesson. The Travelodge
used to be condominiums. In a reverse of the usual
trend of a hotel going condo, this condo went hotel.
The new owners found a novel way to add more rooms.
Each of the condos had a master bedroom/bathroom near
the hallway. That bed/bath was sealed off from the
rest of the condo, and a door to the outside cut to
allow guests access. These are the inexpensive rooms,
and they are small. You get a bedroom and little else,
and at this level you would get more for your money
at the Days Inn down the street.
Now the good part, the rest of the condos... what
they refer to as the "suites". Get one of
these if you are on this side of the island. They
are really, really nice. You could live here. People
already have. They are spacious to the point of largesse,
and all the amenities you left at home are here including
a full kitchen, washer dryer, and a view to die for.
There is an upper level vista of the gulf waters across
the road, a nice pool, and easy access to Duval.
The mid level suites have either a king or two doubles,
and there is a living room with a pull out.
The next level suite is on the top floors, and they
are huge. Huge! These units are like the middle ones,
but include a spiral staircase that leads to a second
floor with two more bedrooms, closets, and joining
bath. They each have private high-altitude island-view
porches. They are huge.
If you are traveling with a group, consider these
units. The larger suites are advertised as able to
sleep 8, and they can do so easily, comfortably, and
with enough privacy and hot water for everybody. It
is also the most economical if you are traveling with
8, the off-season rates per person would be around
$30 per person. I do not think you could stay on this
island for less, and for wind-in-the-palms pretty
you could not ask for more.
Customer Review
The rooms in this hotel are unlike anything I have
ever seen before. It is an apartment! including full
kitchen with washer and dryer for free, large balcony
bed room, bar and living room! There is enough closet
and shelf space to move in! The regular rooms looked
small and without windows. The room was very clean.
The room paid for itself because you are able to cook
yourself if you desire! I decided to stay here over
the Hilton and would go back next time I visit.
Customer Review
I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights and can not stop
talking about it! The rooms are HUGE! The service
is wonderful. The front desk really knew what they
were talking about when they recommended restaurants
and attractions. I will be back next year!
