Our Review
The Key Lime Inn always gets rave reviews. It sits
on Truman (route 1) two and one half blocks north
of Duval, Key West's main drag. The Key Lime Inn offers
both a traditional Bed and Breakfast in the rather
large Maloney House (1854) and a fleet of cottages
of various sizes neatly parked about the compound.
From the Key Lime Inn info: "Key Lime Inn is
a 37 room historic hotel located in the center of
Key West's old town district, just two blocks from
Duval Street. This former estate property offers accommodations
in several buildings spread out over a one acre compound
with mature landscaping, a large pool, and on-site
parking. Historic buildings originally date from 1854
to 1949. Key Lime Inn completed an award winning renovation
in 1999."
The smaller cottages set back behind the pool are
fronted by a wood porch and naturalized area. There
is no concrete leading up to the room, and it makes
for a much cooler, more Jamaican feel. You can enjoy
the sounds of splashing from the pool while sitting
in the shade of the only Sapodilla tree on Key West.
Nearby palms whisper in the breeze.
We met with the General Manager of the Key Lime Inn,
Marlin. He was preceded by his sweet natured golden
retriever, Salvador, who wagged his 'hellos' and promptly
flopped at our feet to be petted. A dog that is good
with people has an owner that is good with people.
He gave us a full tour of the grounds, and was most
hospitable. He described the historical and physical
points, and his own perspective as a hotelier. He
patiently waited while I made sure to get the pictures
I wanted, and answered our questions graciously.
I can easily see why his company is enjoying success
with the addition of two more properties in recent
weeks, they carefully weigh details. You can count
on Marlin and the rest of the employees to take good
care of you. Good people make a good property.
The grounds are well tended, and there is separation
between the units for privacy of both sound and vision.
The feeling is one of close-knit rather than too-close.
The Key Lime Inn is owned by an excellent management
company that buys historical properties, restores
them, and builds upon the quality of their reputation.
Other properties held are the Merlin Guesthouse, Budget
Key West, the Lighthouse Court, and one other in recent
development.
When renting the cottages at the Key Lime Inn, it
is a good idea to upgrade from the standard to the
superior or king. On a small island, rooms tend to
be smaller. The upgrade is less than $50, and well
worth the difference.
Who should stay here? Couples.

The room was very large, and comfortable. We even
had a private balcony! The breakfast by the pool was
great. It's within walking distance to everything.
Highly recommend it!

My boyfriend and I stayed in a King Deluxe room for
4 nights. Would have been 5 but the hurricane came
with a mandatory evacuation. The room was huge but
was in the two story house part. The little cottages
were cute, I think I'll ask for one of those next
time. I would recommend this place to everyone. We
had so much fun in Key West. Also would recommend
the Champagne/Sunset Cruise through Fury Catamarans.
It was my favorite part of the trip!
Customer Review
The quaint cottages are great and clean, if not slightly
overpriced. There is a rooster that woke me and my
husband up every morning during our stay at 5 AM ,
but it contributed to the ambiance. It is a nice,
quiet place to stay. It is off the main strip, which
is great for the mature traveler. The private patios
are peaceful.

We stayed here for 2 nights. They gave us a private
cottage. It was great, clean, and cute, although they
put us in the one right next to the street. It wasn't
too bad, though. I did think they price was a little
high. The breakfast by the pool was wonderful. I would
recommend this place to anyone.
