The Atlantic Shores Resort has been for years a premier gay-friendly, clothing optional seaside lodging on the quiet end of Duval Street.

But the only thing that stays the same in Key West is change.

During my visit the staff of many years relayed the official line from the owners. "We have been instructed by the owners that after October 31 of 2005 we are not to accept any reservations".

The Atlantic Shores Resort it seems will be going condo, and an era comes to an end.

You can still reserve rooms until then, but since there is no longer a need for accountability in the quality of accommodations or service, the Atlantic Shores Resort is on our list of lodgings to avoid.

Atlantic Shores has been a destination for locals and tourists alike in Key West. It is where the party happens everyday by the pool and most nights, early, by the pool bar. Beautiful location.

Awful, Awful, Awful. Outrageously rude and unprofessional staff. Every interaction with the front desk was unpleasant. Also, they were also not at all discreet about room prices knowing that different prices were being charged for the same type rooms. No "please" no "Thank You" I was made to feel they were doing me a favor by allowing me to stay there. Way too much attitude. If this is the only place available on Key West, don't go to Key West.
