Our Review
If the Southernmost Point and Duval Street is the
end of the Keys, the Almond Tree Inn is located at
its crossroads. It is situated one half block away
from Duval on Truman (route 1) and is near the famous
"0" milemarker.
It is so near to Duval, it could not get better.
It is centrally located, you can choose either the
'quiet' end of Duval (go left) or the 'party' end
of Duval (go right). It is also near an internet cafe,
restaurants, electric car rental, bike and scooter
rental (E.V. or bike is recommended), coin op laundry,
and shops.
This is a motel that deserves a better title, the
new owners have made this a very nice property, with
extensive renovations and design. The grounds are
very pretty. The buildings are all clean, and recently
renovated. If you normally prefer hotels over motels,
this would be a great time to make an exception.
The Almond Tree Inn boasts of all the great lengths
to cut down noise pollution, strategically situated
plantings, 8 foot tall masonry walls, sound insulation,
and the sound of falling water. Sitting poolside is
relaxing and peaceful, although the street is visible
(somewhat) through the flowering hedges.
And to keep things extra quiet, the age limit to
rent a room at the Almond Tree Inn is 25 without a
parent or guardian.
They take the comfort of their guests very seriously.
There are 22 rooms, 10 deluxe kings, and 12 suites,
either 2 queens or a king suite with a pull out sofa.
It is common business practice in Key West for lodging
providers to charge $15 or more per day for parking.
It is a complaint often heard in the customer reviews.
So to say that the Almond Tree Inn charges $5 per
day parking, you would know that it is not the negative
it may appear on first glance.
We recommend asking for a room towards the back of
the units, preferable behind the fountain/pool area.
That will give you the quietest room possible.
As the General Manager John said, "You're treated
as you would be at a Bed and Breakfast", and
they do. You will receive full concierge services,
cable tv, complimentary breakfast, and an in-room
safe.
Many of the Almond Tree Inn's customers are repeat
guests who have found this gem hidden right out in
the open.
